Every department has different needs, so no two builds are exactly alike. For this truck, we installed a Tommy Gate G2 Series liftgate with a steel platform. This specific model isn't one we typically keep in stock, so it had to be specially ordered to meet the department's needs.
The liftgate was chosen because it offered the combination of a large platform and high lifting capacity without extending too far above the truck bed when closed. That means firefighters and mechanics have a safer, more stable surface for loading and unloading heavy equipment while still maintaining the truck's practicality.
One example the department shared with us is that they regularly move large Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) truck tires between fire stations for maintenance. Those tires are extremely heavy, and their older liftgate didn't provide enough platform space to handle them comfortably. By installing a larger, higher-capacity liftgate, this truck will make transporting those oversized parts safer, easier, and more efficient—not just for tires, but for a wide variety of heavy equipment the maintenance team moves every day.
From the time the liftgate was ordered to the completed installation, the project took just under a month to finish.
