Vancouver, BC among list of cities mandating side guards on heavy trucks.

At the Vancouver City Council meeting on July 19th, Vancouver City Council voted to require that side guards be installed on all City of Vancouver and City contracted trucks, to reduce the potential danger to cyclists and pedestrians within the City’s own fleet of vehicles. The mandate comes just a month after a 29-year-old cyclist, Agustín Beltrán was killed while riding his bike in the city's Yaletown neighborhood. Beltrán was cycling in a bike lane when he collided with a dump truck making a turn.

Vancouver joins an ever-growing list of cities who are making the roads safer for pedestrians and cyclists by mandating side guards, like Walker Blocker, on heavy trucks.
